Planning Consent Granted for Fox Cottage, Dorset
We’re thrilled to announce that planning consent has now been granted for the complete replacement home at Fox Cottage in the open countryside of Dorset. This new build will sit gently within fields and meadows, drawing its inspiration from the local vernacular while creating a contemporary, life-enhancing family home.
Rooted in Local Vernacular, Reimagined for Modern Living
Set among expansive grounds with uninterrupted views across rolling hills and flowering meadows, Fox Cottage replaces an existing dwelling and gives our clients the chance to live in a home that truly responds to the landscape. The design is rooted in the textures and traditions of the area: flint-work walling, timber-cladding, natural stone detailing, and a low horizontal form that feels time-worn and yet entirely of today.
Inside and out the architecture is crafted to sit quietly in its setting. The building is broken into a series of shallow-pitched roofs and volumes, giving an impression of a house that has grown gently with the land rather than imposed itself upon it. A green roof and carefully selected stone palette help the home nestle into its rural context. Internally, large sliding glazed doors open the living spaces to the garden and meadows beyond, while timber ceilings, soft plasters and earth-toned finishes bring warmth and calm.
Architecture That Sits Gently Within the Landscape
For our clients this is more than a new house: it is an opportunity to embrace countryside living with elegance, comfort and connection to place. With planning now secured, we look forward to working with the clients to refine the design, finalise materials, coordinate the technical stage and move into construction. The excitement is shared across our team — the ambitions are high, the setting is exceptional and the outcome will be a home that balances contemporary design with rural character, raising the bar for the way family living and landscape interact.
