Perched above the picturesque fishing village of Coverack, Old Pine is a complete transformation of a traditional Cornish stone house into a contemporary coastal retreat designed for modern family living.

Purchased in need of extensive refurbishment, the property offered exceptional views across Coverack Bay but failed to take advantage of its spectacular setting. Our response was to completely rethink how the home was organised, carefully restoring the original building while introducing a contemporary roof extension that places everyday living at the highest point of the house.

The existing roof was removed and replaced with a black timber-clad extension, creating a light-filled open-plan kitchen, dining and living space with uninterrupted panoramic views across the ocean. Full-height glazing, framed by deep timber fins, floods the interior with natural light while providing solar shading throughout the year. A generous terrace extends directly from the kitchen, allowing family life to spill effortlessly outdoors for dining, entertaining and enjoying the ever-changing coastal landscape.
