Nestled within the tropical forrest close to Playa Hermosa in Costa Rica sits the spectacular family holiday home designed by Watershedd architects. Designed around a feature central pool, the open plan family living spaces seamlessly spills out onto the various sheltered terraces and outside spaces.
The house is formed from local natural timbers and functional polished concrete. Almost all of the elevations contain timber shutters which allows the free flow of air through the house to keep the spaces cool during the hotter months and dry during the rainy season. The main living and dining area features a double height space with internal mezzanine, connecting the living spaces to the bedrooms whilst allowing the light to filter through the high level shutters.
The house is designed to create a sense of openness whilst also maintaining privacy from neighbouring properties and the street access. The main rooms overlook the central pool and terrace area, connecting the inside and outside spaces whilst also focusing views inwards across the landscaping and spectacular tropical gardens.
